Addressing microbial hazards after a period of building inactivity

Due to COVID-19, many buildings have been shut down or seen little use over the past few months. As buildings are reopened for regular activity, steps must be taken to ensure the safety of returning occupants. Mold and Legionella (the bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease) are two microbial hazards that can take hold in an idle building and should be considered.

The CDC provides guidance for organizations to help reduce risk and ensure safety of occupants, as well as building water systems and devices.
